Where ChatGPT is genuinely excellent
Credit where it is due: frontier-class models, and Company Knowledge that searches across your connected apps with citations, respecting the permissions those tools already enforce. Setup is light. For answering "what did we say about this, anywhere?" it is genuinely good, and nothing here is an argument that it is not.
What it does not cover
Look at what it requires to be true. You keep paying for every connected system, because the assistant’s value is proportional to how many of them you have. Nothing consolidates; the seams are still there, narrated back to you. The knowledge is retrieved rather than owned — cancel the subscription and you are back to a dozen systems and a search box.
ChatGPT ships no CRM, no campaign sender, no messaging and no client or partner portal. It can read the mail in a connected account, but it is not your email client. It runs on shared infrastructure under policy guarantees. It answers questions about your business; it does not run any of it.
